The new Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) cards will be required for access to Maxwell and Gunter by July 2011. SSgt Joshua Allen, 42nd SFS, Pass and Registration, is the Site Manager for DBIDS.
- Active-duty military, DoD civilians and retirees are given priority registration through February.
- Family members can begin registering in March. According to Sgt Allen, "Members holding a dependent's (military) ID card will not need their sponsor present," however the sponsor must already be registered.

MSgt Rodney Hickson, Superintendent of Plans and Programs stated "Visitors will also need to be registered in DBIDS via a paper pass with a photo and bar code on it issued by the DBIDS system." DBIDS will eventually be implemented across the country at all military bases.

Federal civilian employees are also required to have this, under the Real ID law.
ReplyDeleteAnyone in our group that is a Federal employee should bring their ID to the reunion, just in case security is tightened on short notice.
