New Biometric IDs Needed by July 2011

~summary of story by Kelly Deichert, AU/PA

The new Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) cards will be required for access to Maxwell and Gunter by July 2011. SSgt Joshua Allen, 42nd SFS, Pass and Registration, is the Site Manager for DBIDS.

  • Active-duty military, DoD civilians and retirees are given priority registration through February.

  • Family members can begin registering in March. According to Sgt Allen, "Members holding a dependent's (military) ID card will not need their sponsor present," however the sponsor must already be registered.

  • Visitor's Center:  (334) 953-4283

  1. Federal civilian employees are also required to have this, under the Real ID law.

Anyone in our group that is a Federal employee should bring their ID to the reunion, just in case security is tightened on short notice.
